Marie is the main teacher & founder of Ashtanga Yoga Luxembourg. She lives with her husband and two sons in Luxembourg where she upholds the daily classes at the shala.
Over the years she has studied asana, pranayama, and yoga philosophy extensively with many of the most senior teachers. Marie teaches with careful adherence to the authentic teachings of ashtanga yoga and pranayama. She is dedicated to her students and teach with close attention to alignment guiding them so that they can gain knowledge, awareness and understanding of themselves through the practice.
Lisa is a dedicated yoga practisioner and teaches at her shala Lisa Steffan Yoga in Clézentaine, France (Lorraine). She is honoured to be a guest teacher for workshops at AYL since 2017.
"In 1999 I liked a mix of triathlon, mountain-biking and rowing to stay in shape and de-stress; then a friend convinced me to come to yoga class. I thought we would do a lot of sitting around and relaxing...but no! It was an advanced Ashtanga yoga class. I think I spent the whole class looking around and trying to keep up with all the vinyasas, and the postures were way too hard for a complete beginner, but I had to come back to learn more. Soon into the practice, I realised that Ashtanga yoga provided more than just a physical workout - it nurtures the body, mind and soul.
In 2012 I completed my teacher training in Australia and moved to France for a total lifestyle change. My teaching today is a reflection of my practice as it continues to evolve - disciplined but with an element of play, and a strong emphasis on alignment. I still like to hop on my bike from time to time, but now I find my de-stressing on the mat, synchronising breath and movement. Om Shanti"

"I discovered Yoga in 2010 while looking for a practice that could help me find clarity and improve my health. I was soon drawn to yoga's philosophical and spiritual foundations. In the following years, I tried different Yoga styles like Ashtanga, Sivananda, Power Vinyasa, Bikram and Jivamukti. I took one-week intensive Jivamukti retreats in 2013 and 2014 where I had the chance to learn more about the asana practice as well as Yoga philosophy.
The style that has proved best for me is the traditional Ashtanga Yoga which I find truly inspiring with its calm power and grace. In 2015, I completed a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga teacher training in Mysore, India led by Jaiprakash who is a direct disciple of B.N. Sundar Raj Iyengar from the Mysore Ashtanga tradition.
Yoga has helped me a lot to feel better physically, emotionally and spiritually. I would like to share the practice with others in order to bring more equanimity and peace in the world. "
